COLOUR MEDITATION
Colour can be used to focus and still the mind for meditation. The Tibetans used a Mandela, a pattern of harmonious shapes, symbols and colours, on which one can contemplate. Crystals can also be used for meditation and placing a clear quartz crystal over a filter on a light box produces a beautiful relaxing light. Meditation is a wonderful tool for stilling the restless mind, concerned with our daily activities, and gives us the opportunity of looking and listening to our higher mind. We all have inner wisdom and all the knowledge we need for our time on earth but we rarely communicate with our inner soul which will guide and protect us in all that we need to know and do. The following meditation is wonderful to do each morning, connecting you to all the coloured rays. You can, of course, develop your own meditations concentrating on a single or on several colours.
Work with visualisations in colour when you wish to relax: visualise a peaceful scene, perhaps walking through the woods by a stream in as much colour detail as possible. Visualise the colours of the sunrise and sunset: practising visualising in colour helps to strengthen your subconscious attunement to colour.
You can also inhale each colour in turn, starting with red. Fill your diaphragm with air while focusing on the colour and slowly exhale, sending the colour throughout your body. Breathe in each colour three or four times, resting in between colours to note how the colour affects you.
RAINBOW MEDITATION
Imagine yourself totally surrounded by white light. Breathe this light into every cell and tissue in your body, until you become one with the light.
Next you see waves of colour coming up from the earth. At first you experience a wave of brilliant red, the colour of blood, rising through your feet and legs entering into your base chakra. Feel it warming you as it rises to the sacral centre. It now becomes orange, the colour of the sun at sunset. You start to feel more relaxed and your breathing becomes free and easy. As the wave of colour rises into your solar-plexus you feel it empowering you and radiating from your centre. You now feel the lower three chakras connected and receiving energy from the earth.
Now focus on the heart and draw in the beautiful green of creativity and growth. You are reminded that you are connected to all living things, the plants and trees, animals, your family and all mankind. Your heart goes out to all these things and you feel a great love for the earth itself. You feel harmony, tranquillity and peace. You can relax and trust in the process of life.
As you draw your attention up to the throat centre you look at the sky, feeling the cleansing blue rays entering your throat, purifying your words. It reminds you of the vastness of the spirit and sky. The blue starts to darken and becomes the indigo ray which enters your sixth chakra, or third eye. This gives you the ability to see inner truth. It is the colour of high ideals and wisdom. Finally the violet ray pours down, entering your crown chakra and connecting you to the universe. You feel both connected to the sky and the earth. You are of spirit and body. Through this realisation you undergo transformation for this is the gate to enlightenment.

meditating
The unique properties of the cosmic coloured rays are your keys to knowledge and wisdom. By understanding the powers which surround you, you are also able to understand the powers within you.
Slowly let the violet fade and a great feeling of peace and tranquillity descends over you. When you are ready, slowly move your toes and fingers and open your eyes.
These meditations, practiced on a regular basis, will gradually bring awareness to your physical and etheric state, bringing a sense of wholeness, wellness and balance to your whole being.

The word Reiki means free passage of Universal Life Force Energy. Reiki is a Japanese word, represented by the characters below. In the Chinese character system, Reiki is Leiki. Both Reiki and Leiki originate in Tibet. Pronounced Ray key. The symbol is Japanese “kanji” or character for the word “Reiki”.

The syllable rei in Japanese means spirit, ghost and soul. In Chinese, the syllable lei, means subtle influences, the force, ethereal and supernatural power. Rei can be interpreted as “free passage”.

The syllable Ki means life force energy (as in Aikido). In Chinese, life force energy is called chi, in India, prana. There are many names for life force energy; each culture has its own.

The History Of Reiki

Reiki, originating from the words, raku-kei, is the art and science of spiritual self-improvement.

Reiki originated in ancient Tibet thousands of years ago. The Reiki calligraphy, in Sanskrit, was used in meditation in Tibetan monasteries. Reiki symbols were painted upon large wall hangings in the monasteries and acted as the centre focus in the practices toward enlightenment by Tibetan holy men.

A Tibetan Lama would sit on a four-legged wooden stool in the centre of an oval earthenware container (to represent the etheric egg) filled with three inches of water.

The stool was made of wood with pure silver inlay going up a channel in each of the stools legs, connecting a silver plate inlay upon the stools’ seat. On the silver plate, inlaid in amethyst and rubies, was the Master Frequency Symbol. In front of the stool was a mirror of polished copper. Behind the stool hung a tapestry containing the Lamas’ prayer and the Reiki symbols.

The symbols were reflected in the copper wall, and meditated upon by the Lama as he sat on the stool. The Tibetan Lama concentrated on the Reiki symbols to implant them deep into his subconscious, thereby purifying the body/mind, raising consciousness, and increasing awareness.

Dr. Mikao Usui – 1865 –1926

 Dr usui

What is now called Reiki was re-discovered in the 1870’s by Dr. Mikao Usui.

As the story goes, his students asked Dr. Usui, the president of a small Christian university in Japan, “How did Christ heal?” This question led Dr. Usui to resign from his University position and begin a ten-year search for the answer.

His quest led him to many parts of the world to study in many different languages, and finally to the original Sanskrit Buddhist Sutras, where he found ancient symbols that he believed to be the formula for healing.

At this point, Dr Usui felt he had the keys to healing, but did not know how to awaken his healing power. He decided to go to a mountain and meditate for 21 days, to seek the power to heal. On the final day, Dr Usui saw a beam of light rushing toward him, the light struck him in the middle of his forehead and at that moment he saw the Reiki symbols and felt them enter his mind and memory.

Dr Usui spent the rest of his life sharing Reiki. Before his death, Dr. Usui passed the keys of Reiki over to his close associate, Dr Chijiro Hayashi, who ran a Reiki clinic in the early 1900’s in Japan.
Hawayo Takata- 1900 –1980

Mrs. Hayayo Takata who was born on the island of Hawaii in 1900 and lived in the Hawaiian Islands until 1970 brought Reiki to Hawaii in 1934.

Hawayo_Takata

In March 1917 she married Saichi Takata, the book- keeper of the plantation where she was employed. They had two daughters together before he died aged 34 in Tokyo where he had gone for lung cancer treatment.

After this Takata worked hard to support her family on her own and this contributed to her suffering from lung problems, a variety of serious gastrointestinal ailments and severe depression actually leading to a nervous breakdown. In her mid-thirties, with Mrs Takata widowed and very ill, she travelled to Japan to seek treatment.  She was diagnosed with several life threatening conditions including gallstones, and a tumour. She was given some weeks to recuperate from emphysema before being admitted for surgery for appendicitis and other gastrointestinal problems. On the operating table, just before the surgery was to begin she heard a voice. The voice said, “The operation is not necessary. The operation is not necessary”. She had never heard a voice speak to her like this before. She wondered what it meant. The voice repeated the message a 3rd time even louder.

She knew she was wide-awake and had not imagined the voice. It was so unusual, yet so compelling that she decided to ask the doctor. She got off the operating table, wrapped a sheet around herself and asked to speak to the doctor. She asked the chief surgeon about non-surgical alternatives and was given the address of the clinic near the emperor’s palace run by Dr. Chujiro.

While she was there, she was guided to Dr. Hayashi’s clinic and was healed with Reiki.  She received daily treatments and got progressively better. In four months, she was completely healed. Impressed with the results she wanted to learn Reiki. She studied Reiki for a year in Japan and later was made a Reiki Master (one who can fine tune or empower others with Reiki energy). Mrs Takata spent the rest of her life sharing Reiki with others and in 1970 she moved to California and began to train other masters, until her death in 1980

What is Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage is a relaxing and de-stressing massage of the scalp, face, neck, shoulders and upper arms. Indian head massage can help to relax, soothe or invigorate the receiver.  It is a treatment that involves the therapist using their hands to knead, rub and squeeze the body’s soft tissues, such as the muscles.

Oils such as coconut and almond can be used and may be applied to the face, neck and scalp.  The oils help to keep the hair strong, healthy and lustrous.
Indian head massage treatment is becoming very popular in the West and has advantages over other massage treatments for the following reasonsist1_5576441-acupuncture-therapy-alternative-medicine

    Clients do not have to remove their clothes, unless they want to.
    It can be carried out almost anywhere.
    It can be carried out in a relatively short time compared to other holistic treatments
    The massage can be performed with or without oils or creams
    Little equipment is required; therefore it is an economical treatment to carry out.

Physiological and psychological benefits of IHM

Having a head massage is an invaluable treatment, in helping relieve stress related problems including: headaches, eyestrain and neck and shoulder stiffness. The head, more than any other part of our body, represents who we are. It is the centre of our nervous system, and home to our identity and intelligence. The Chakra at the top of our head (Crown Chakra) is the one we use to communicate with our higher self. If our head feels good, we feel good.  Chakras will be explained more fully in a later section of this course.

The following are just some of the benefits of Indian head massage:

    It promotes total relaxation, as the massage helps to give a feeling of wellbeing and calm.
    The increased blood circulation to the head, neck and shoulders brings oxygen and nutrients, thus helping to improve the condition of the skin and to stimulate hair growth.
    The increased blood circulation to the brain means that more oxygen is delivered; this will help mental fatigue and improve concentration.
    The increased blood circulation will help to relieve stiffness in the neck and shoulders as oxygen and nutrients are brought to the area and waste products that have built up in the affected muscles are taken away.
    Massage relieves eyestrain and tension headaches as muscular tension in the scalp is relieved.
    The increased lymphatic flow helps to get rid of toxins and other waste products, so aiding detoxification of the body.
    Massage helps with irritability and promotes sleep, as the client feels more relaxed and calm.
    It breaks down fibrositic nodules, commonly known as knots, which develop from tension in the muscles.
    It triggers the release of brain chemicals called endorphins, which create a feeling of contentment and happiness.
    Massage also reduces stress levels increasing the possibility of psychological upliftment.

While some would view the holistic approach to treating illness and disease contrary to the wisdom of conventional medicine, quite the opposite is true in most cases. In fact, most conventional physicians view a patient with a desire to work to improve their overall health as refreshing.

A majority of holistic medical approaches can complement traditional treatments. Here are some things that you can do to integrate holistic healthcare into your life:
~

Holistic care means focusing not only on a specific sign or symptom, but working to treat the mind, body and spirit of any patient who is willing to seek answers for what ails them. Most holistic treatment options are based on nature, and include few chemicals that are foreign to the human body. Here are some ways that you can begin to integrate holistic medicine into your life:
~

Holistic care treats the whole person, rather than just specific areas of the body. The primary difference between holistic care and conventional medicine is that holistic practitioners try to use naturally occurring substances to treat illnesses and disease instead of manufactured chemicals. Additionally, there is a focus on alternative therapies including chiropractic care, acupuncture, massage and even psychotherapy when appropriate. Here are some things that you might not realize about the many holistic techniques available today:
~

Have you found yourself to be little more than a passive participant in your medical care? If so, you are definitely not alone. One alternative that will make you an active participant is holistic medicine.

With holistic medicine, care is centered on the individual and not just the results of lab tests. The belief that medical care must depend on the individual often seems lost in the realm of medicine. By selecting holistic care, you are taking control of your medical care and will find that your overall well-being improves. Here are some approaches that set holistic medical care apart:
~

Are you tired of your doctor telling you that the symptoms you are experiencing are just in your head? Well, it turns out that they could very well be right! This is not to say that every unexplained medical problem is an unresolved mental disorder. Instead, it is the idea that emotional issues can potentially lead to physical problems within the body. For this reason, the holistic approach includes treatments for both the mind and the body. Here are some examples of how holistic care can work to make you feel better than you ever have:
~

If you are an open minded person who would like to be more involved with your medical care, then holistic medicine offers you the ability to get involved and stay involved. Many holistic treatments require a significant contribution from the patient, in order to achieve the greatest results. Here are some examples of holistic treatment options that you may not have heard about:
~

Sometimes, it is easy to forget that not every mind or body is alike. This is where conventional medical practitioners fail their patients in some cases. And, it is why holistic and natural medical care is gaining popularity.

Careful observation of a patient is critical when you want to address their specific needs and symptoms, and holistic practitioners take the time to learn about their patients, and not just what the medical books say about the human body. Through coordinated holistic care, you will find that your body and mind respond to treatment a lot faster than with conventional medical care. Here are some of the options open to you when you choose to use holistic medical care:
~

Holistic medicine is not mystical, and it is not mysterious. In fact, holistic medicine is much more real than many people realize. In order to increase the positive effects of medical treatment, it is necessary that the treating practitioner get to know the patient as an individual. Observation and discovery can often uncover potential problems before they begin and help the practitioner to address any specific problems experienced by the patient. Here are some of the ways that holistic care can benefit you:
~

Do you suffer from a chronic health problem, but you just can’t seem to find a treatment that works? You might be a good candidate for holistic medical care.

Believe it or not, there is a lot more to medical treatments than conventional medicine would have you believe. There are many forms of alternative medicine like homeopathic medications, massage therapy, aromatherapy and nutrition counselling. Each of these approaches focuses on you as an individual so that you can have your needs addressed in a way that is comfortable for you and that works to alleviate not only the symptoms, but the root cause of your problems. Here are some ideas to consider:
~

Holistic medical care is becoming a buzzword among thirty somethings who are looking to play a more active role in maintaining good health. Gone are the days where an apple a day was the only way to stay healthy. Those who have started to enjoy the benefits of holistic medical care will tell you that there is much to be said for preventative care that keeps the mind, body and spirit in excellent condition.

There is no right or wrong way to use holistic care, as it can be integrated with conventional medical care or it can be used in place of conventional medical care. The wonderful thing about holistic care is that there is definitely something for everyone. You have probably already turned to holistic medicine at some point, but you may not realize this now. Here are some examples of what holistic care involves:
Now that you know a little more about holistic care, hopefully you will consider giving it a try. There are many holistic practitioners throughout the country, and you can most likely find one in your area by simply looking in the Yellow Pages. If you are unable to locate a holistic practitioner in your area, consider doing an internet search to see if there is someone in a nearby town who could work with you. There’s no time like the present to start working towards a healthier you.
~

Holistic medicine is no longer a taboo practice that people do in secret. Rather, today’s holistic practitioners are proud to be able to offer their patients a wide variety of treatment options that help to develop the mind, body and spirit. Many conventional physicians are willing to help patients integrate alternative treatment options into their standard medical treatments. If you are considering taking a holistic approach to your health, as your doctor for a recommendation or get started by looking through your local phone book.
~

Take sometime to learn more about the holistic treatments listed above, and think about how you can integrate these techniques into your life. We all want to maintain a healthy body, so that we may enjoy life to its fullest. With holistic medicine, you have the opportunity to change your life in a positive way beginning with the first time you speak to a practitioner.
~

Do you wonder sometimes if all of those conventional medicines are really working for you? Have you been looking for another way? As you can see from the information presented above, there is not necessarily only one treatment route for any medical problem. Holistic care can work in conjunction with traditional treatment options, or you may elect to replace what you are doing now with an alternative treatment. Review the information above, and see if there is something in the list that could help you today.
~

Take a few minutes out of your busy day to consider whether the ideas above might be worth integrating into your life. These are definitely not the only types of holistic care available, the options are endless. Whether you determine that one or all of the ideas listed here will fit into your life, now is the right time to start working towards a healthier, happier you.
~

No medical treatment is the perfect solution for every patient. And, not all traditional medical treatments work for every patient. This is one of the core beliefs with holistic medical care, which is designed to look at the individual to determine what treatment options might work best. The list above has been assembled to give you a better idea of how holistic medicine can help you to become healthier and to stay healthier in the long run. Take some time to consider how you can integrate holistic medical care into your life.
~

If there is one thing that can be said about holistic medicine, it is that the premise is the individual patient. Because holistic medical care incorporates the individual’s specific needs and concerns it tends to be a much more effective approach to medical care. Certainly, it can also be integrated well with conventional medical treatment plans. While you may not be comfortable with all alternative treatment options, there is definitely a lot of possibility for improving your life one step at a time when you open your mind to the idea of holistic care.
~

Whether you are looking for an alternative medical treatment for a specific medical condition, or you are looking to improve you health overall, there is definitely something for everyone with holistic medicine. Patients young and old have found that integrating holistic care into their lives has proven beneficial. Take some time to learn about the treatments listed above, and to determine if one of the options might help you to start on a path to a better life today.
~

One of the most impressive things about holistic medicine is that the patient gets to play more than a passive role in their medical care. A holistic practitioner should spend as much time getting to know the individual patient as they do recommending specific treatments. This is important, and with all of the ideas listed above, you will find that the practitioner with whom you work will be very interested in your life, your background and your overall health in general. This information allows him or her to develop a course of treatment that has an excellent chance of success.
~

Whether you are just curious about holistic care, or you are looking to solve a specific problem, the ideas above will get you started on the course to a better life. There are many different specialties within the realm of holistic care, and these are just a few of the possible treatment options. Honestly, not every approach is right for every patient but there is definitely something that is right for everyone. If your fear is that you will lose the benefit of conventional medicine, don’t worry because there is a good chance that your regular physician will work with you to determine how holistic medicine can benefit your overall well-being.

When death occurs something in the human machine fails to assimilate the materials placed at its disposal, and therefore, the energy needed for normal functions becomes non-existent.

When death occurs something in the human machine fails to assimilate the materials placed at its disposal, and therefore, the energy needed for normal functions becomes non-existent. A doctor can certify the cause of death as one of many diseases affecting given organs of the body, but he cannot certify with any degree of accuracy when and how the body first became prone to the disease, and why disease should appear in one person and not in another.

It has been proved, by observation, that disease shows itself in the aura before making itself felt in the organs of the physical body; it can be seen as dark patches, or as a mottled condition in the vari-coloured radiation surrounding the individual, proving that some disorganization of the electrical field also takes place

Evidences that medical science is gradually coming to realize the electrical nature of man’s constitution can be observed by the part that electrical therapy plays in the modern hospitals and specialists’ consulting-rooms. As yet, the majority of doctors regards only the effects of electrical treatment as shown by the response of the pysical organs; they work on the theory that certain electrical rays stimulate some bacteria and destroy others.

A few scientists have branched out into the theory that it is man’s own electricity that reacts upon himself, and by the study of the aura are advancing slowly into a new theoretical idea of the cause of disease, an idea that has been aided by the invention of the Kilnascreen and the verificatin of clairvoyants that disease is shown in the aura before the onset of an illness, that the condition intensifies during illness and fades in convalescence, but leaves behind it a permanent imprint on the electrical field.

Advice for Cleaning Personal Crystals
There are three steps to effective crystal healing, this can be for crystals that you are wearing as jewellery or in a pouch at your heart centre, the crystal vibrations continuously work on your imbalances.
The Cleansing Process
In first week or so, the crystal is making tremendous adjustments within your energy field, matching the matrix of your energy fields to a larger outer universal energy field which will be used in your healing.
It is important to keep the crystal on you all the time (24 hours a day) for at least the first 21 days for this cleansing process to be initiated and completed. This is also a period of time where the blockages of energy that are causing the imbalance are removed.

ist1_6272450-quartz-crystals-and-gems
Sometimes a healing crisis occurs at this point, during the early days of wearing the crystal. Remember, resolving the inner conflict may take time and that crystals accelerate the change process. Allow these processes to occur without interruption, by continuously wearing the stone or crystal until you complete the next two steps.
It is a good idea to cleanse your crystal every week and to recharge it in the sunlight for at least four hours weekly through out the healing process.
Harmonizing and Integrating
The second step in crystal healing is the process of harmonizing and integrating the changes into your whole being. You may notice physical and emotional changes in either of the first or second steps as your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies come into alignment. Some of these changes are caused by throwing off toxins and negative energies from the cleansing process which continues throughout the cycle of healing.
In the second stage, beginning in about the fourth week of wearing the stone or crystal, you may notice that your face looks more relaxed as the harmonizing connection is made within yourself. Your mental outlook, thoughts, feelings and even opinions may change significantly. All aspects of your energy will be activated and the result is a very positive feeling. However, you are not out of the woods yet!
Stability
The third step can take three to four months, perhaps even longer for some people depending on the intensity of the original condition. With continuous wearing of the stones or crystals, you will achieve stability for the changes. There is no turning back at this point.
You can test out the stability by removing your crystals from time to time. If you feel desperate and need to put your crystals back on after only a few minutes, you are not even close to stabilizing the energy changes. If you are able to go for a few days without your stones, but then notice you are slipping back into your old ways, consider wearing your stones for another week or more, or only at bedtime before testing again. As you develop deeper sensitivity for crystal energy, you may decide to keep the crystals on much longer.
Some Hints On Crystal Healing
Your commitment to the crystal is part of the healing process. Let the crystal do the work for you. It is best not to wear more than two stones at any one time if you are new to crystal healing, as many people find the effects too distracting. The length of time to obtain the effects desired will depend on the quality of the crystal (size, colour, and energy charge), location of wear, duration, and the crystal’s appropriateness to your healing. Some crystals are better suited to healing the overall problem which underlies the symptoms, than to just treating superficial symptoms. Select your crystal with an honest outlook on the real problem.

How the aromatherapy oils work

In our  Introduction to Aromatherapy course we briefly touched on this subject, but if you are to become a professional Aromatherapist you need to be fully conversant with this to help tailor your treatments accordingly.aroma

Inhalation
Aromas stimulate the olfactory nerves at the back of the nose, which send messages to the olfactory bulb which is in the third ventricle of the brain (the limbic system). This part of the brain looks after our thirst, hunger and sex drives.

The pituitary gland and the hypothalamus are both situated in the same area with responsibility for the release of hormones into our systems that control body functions and release emotions and memories.  So stimulating these nerves can have a direct effect on the body and the mind.  The pituitary gland is head of the endocrine system and regulates the production of hormones by all glands.

The hypothalamus is part of the neurological system that controls the autonomic nervous system, ie controls all the involuntary muscles such as the heart, lungs etc. It also works with the pituitary gland to regulate female sex hormones and is related to the control of the appetite.

ist1_8297009-herbal-treatmentSo the inhalation of essential oils has a powerful effect on the hormones in the endocrine system and is particularly useful in the treatment of hormonal conditions.

Absorption

Essential oils that are absorbed into the skin go directly into the blood stream; so this can be achieved in many ways such as in the bath/shower, compress, massage and applied neat onto the skin. Inhalation of oils can also be absorbed through the lungs as they enter into the bloodstream in the surrounding blood vessels.

Essential oils go directly into the bloodstream and boost the levels of vitamins, minerals, proteins and acids that are naturally produced in the body.  They are really clever in that they seek out where the body is deficient in some way help with the chemical balance.  Additionally essential oils that are absorbed through the skin can trigger our immune system by locating molecules in the body and sending a signal to our cells to attack and invade organisms.

What you do need to be aware of is that the absorption rates vary in individuals and the oils. Although it only takes a minute for the oil to penetrate into the skin, the absorption rate varies from the bloodstream and into the relevant organs depending on the size, circulation and general health of the individual – which can be from 70 minutes to 6 hours.  It might be useful for you to record on the treatment card how the client felt soon after and then following the treatment.

The body then gets rid of the oil through urine, faeces, perspiration and exhalation which can take from 3 to 14 hours.  It is believed that the oils do not leave toxins when expelled unlike more traditional type medicines.

Room Burner (oil burner, diffuser and vaporiser)

Room burners are specially made for use with essential oils, there any many different retail outlets that offer them in different shapes, themes, sizes and designs.  However, a couple of useful tips: make sure the bowl element of the burner is fairly deep; the candle chamber is large and has sufficient ventilation to allow the excess heat to escape.  The base of the burner should be thick, or have a raised rim to life the centre of the base from the surface to avoid unnecessary damage.  A glazed burner does not crack, burn or stain and easy to keep clean – I personally had a beautiful clear glass burner that broke because I had forgotton to refill it with water – so this is always something to take into account.  Night candles should be used, and to speed up the aroma process add a little warm  water to the bowl.

This particular system is really good for psychological conditions, headaches and respiratory problems and good for airborne viruses and bacteria.  I personally like a burner with added lavender essential oil after a long day at work as it helps me to chill and wind down.  The obvious other benefit is that it makes any room smell nice.

Chromotherapy, sometimes called colour therapy – is an alternative medicine method which involves a therapist trained in chromotherapy using colour and light to balance energy for physical, emotional, spiritual, or mental problems. Of course it should not be confused with Light Therapy, which has been proven to relieve things like major depressive disorder.
Chromotherapists believe there is a scientific basis for their practice, in that colours bring about emotional reactions in people. A standard method of diagnosis is the use of “Luscher’s colour test”, developed by Max Luscher (1923) in the early 1900s. When performing chromotherapy, colour and light is applied to specific areas and accupoints on the body. Because colours get associated with both positive and negative effects in color therapy, specific colors and accurate amounts of color are deemed to be critical in healing. Some of the tools used for applying colors are gemstones, candles, wands, prisms, coloured fabrics, bath treatments, and coloured glasses or lenses. Therapeutic color can be administered in a number of ways, but is often combined with hydrotherapy and aromatherapy to heighten the therapeutic effect.color_blend
History
Colour therapy is possibly rooted in Ayurveda, an ancient form of medicine practiced in India for thousands of years. Other historic roots are attributed to Chinese and ancient Egyptian culture. In traditional Chinese medicine, each organ is associated with a colour. Ancient Egyptians built solarium-type rooms, which could be fitted with coloured panes of glass. The sun would shine through the glass and flood the patient with colour. As late as the nineteenth century, European smallpox victims and their sickrooms were draped with red cloth to draw the disease away from the body.

Avicenna (980-1037) viewed color to be of vital importance in diagnosis and treatment, made significant contributions to chromotherapy in The Canon of Medicine. He wrote that “Color is an observable symptom of disease” and also developed a chart that related colour to the temperature and physical condition of the body. His view was that red moved the blood, blue or white cooled it, and yellow reduced muscular pain and inflammation. He further discussed the properties of colors for healing and was “the first to establish that the wrong color suggested for therapy would elicit no response in specific diseases.” As an example, “he observed that a person with a nosebleed should not gaze at things of a brilliant red color and should not be exposed to red light because this would stimulate the sanguineous humor, whereas blue would soothe it and reduce blood flow.
Meaning and use of colors

Chakras and their corresponding positions in the human body
Health is contingent upon balancing not only our physical needs, but our emotional needs as well. In India, a group of healers versed in Ayurvedic medicine describe colors associated with the seven main chakras, which are, according to their system, spiritual centers in our bodies located along the spine.
There are seven of these chakras and each is associated with a particular organ or system in the body. Each chakra has a dominant color, but these colors may become imbalanced. If this happens it can cause disease and other physical ramifications. By introducing the appropriate color, these maladies can be fixed. Below is a description of each chakra, its corresponding color, and the medicinal uses of each.
•    Red: First Chakra: Located at the base of the spine.Used to stimulate the body and mind and to increase circulation.
•    Orange: Second Chakra: pelvis area. Used to heal the lungs and to increase energy levels.
•    Yellow: Third Chakra: solar plexus. Used to stimulate the nerves and purify the body.
•    Green: Fourth Chakra: heart
•    Blue: Fifth Chakra: throat. Used to soothe illnesses and treat pain.
•    Indigo: Sixth Chakra: lower part of the forehead. Used to alleviate skin problems.
•    Violet: Seventh Chakra: top of the head

Benefits Of Full Body Massage
Full body massage can produce multiple benefits for your health. These benefits go far beyond an hour spent in relaxing quietly, escaping the day. An increasing amount of evidence indicates that stress and tension form the root causes of many diseases and illnesses. Hence, if you able to find ways to alleviate or relieve your stress, you are preventing health problems from emerging or becoming worse.THERAPIST

Going for a full body massage on a regular basis is one excellent way to help you fight off tensions. Full body massage stimulates the production of endorphins that promotes relaxation and drowsiness.

When you go for full body massage, your head to your toes and feet are massaged both front and back. A variety of strokes that includes kneading, pulling, wringing, hacking and gliding are used on various parts of the body.

If you are already ill or suffering from constant fatigue or pain, then full body massage can play a big part in your treatment. A full body massage helps to improve blood circulation and blood becomes more easily transportable to the vital organs in your body. This is vital for smooth functioning of your internal body parts. In addition, when blood is supplied to areas that have been injured before, repair and renewal of cells and tissues take place more easily. Combined with conventional medicine and other therapies, repeat sessions of full body massage can do much to accelerate your recovery.

Here are a few disorders that benefit from regular full body massage:

* Depression
* Infertility
* Eating disorders
* Post-operative recovery
* Autism
* Immune-suppressed systems
* Diabetes
* High blood pressure
* Sleep disorders
* Cancer related fatigue
* Low back pain
* Spinal cord injuries

When you choose full body massage, you choose a non-invasive procedure. In addition, full massage therapy, which is relatively safe, can be a complementary treatment to other medical treatments.

Other than improved blood circulation, here are other benefits that you can expect to experience from a full body massage.

* Stimulated lymph system
* Stimulated immune system
* Relaxed muscles
* Reduced cramps
* Increased flexibility
* Reduced recovery time
* Released endorphins
* Reduced post-operative scar tissue and edema
* Reduced migraine pain
* Improved range of motion
* Reduced depression
* Shortened labor and delivery in expectant mothers

As helpful as full body massage can be, those with certain illnesses should avoid the treatment. These include phlebitis, certain cancers, certain heart conditions, certain skin problems, and contagious diseases.

To be absolutely sure, check with your doctor first if you are chronically ill. Otherwise, enjoy on a regular basis!
